What’s the SCR (UREA) Delete?

SCR stands for “selective catalytic reduction,” and it’s a component designed to reduce harmful exhaust emissions. It works with a fluid, diesel engine fluid (DEF), that is injected into the exhaust stream. The SCR, or UREA, can prove to be a very problematic component – especially since it’s prone to corrosion and blockages – which can lead to issues with the SCR itself, and perhaps even the diesel engine. That’s why many fleet managers and operators just prefer to delete the UREA altogether.

Some of the benefits of a UREA delete include:

• No need for DEF: All fleet managers have overhead costs to manage, and having to account for the cost of DEF can be a hassle. Deleting the UREA system is one way for managers to eliminate this overhead cost.
